A Pathway To Peace

Pathway to Peace

If you are looking for a positive change in your life while dealing with the conflict and confusion of a domestic breakdown or divorce, then mediation may be right for you. You are the experts of your own specific family, and mediation respects that. Family mediation allows both of your voices to be heard and actively listened to. The mediator, a neutral and unbiased third party, designs the process to be safe and respectful, while supporting you in moving your family forward one step at a time. Mediation allows you to come up with a unique and comprehensive agreement that is arrived at mutually between the parties and is durable for your family.

THE MEDIATION PROCESS: ‘IT ALL STARTS WITH A CONVERSATION’

  1. Initial contact by phone, text, or email to the mediator
  2. Free phone consultation where the party describes a brief summary of their situation.
  3. Individual intake appointment is scheduled for each party to talk about their situation, concerns, hopes for the future and issues to be mediated.
  4. If mediation is appropriate then all parties, including the mediator, sign an agreement to mediate. The agreement details fees, the mediator’s role, the conditions of the mediation sessions, including the rules of respect, and both parties’ commitment to the non-adversarial process of mediation.
  5. Mediation sessions are scheduled and continue until an agreement is reached or when the mediator or either party decides that the process is not working.
  6. A Mediation Report, outlining the resolved issues is drafted by the mediator for the parties to review.
  7. The Mediation Report may be taken to each client’s lawyer for Independent Legal Advice where the report may be turned into a legally binding agreement.
